Privacy Policy for Treasure Seeker
Last updated: 11 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Barbofish Games (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the mobile game Treasure Seeker (the “App”), available on Google Play.
By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.
1. Information we collect
We have designed the App to collect as little information as possible. We do not ask you to create an account or provide any personally identifying information directly.
a) Information stored only on your device
The App stores the following data locally on your device using Android’s SharedPreferences. This information never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Your high score and highest level reached.
- Your most recent checkpoint progress.
- Your audio preferences (mute, volume).
- A flag indicating whether you have completed the in-game tutorial.
You can erase all of this data at any time by clearing the App’s storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the App.
b) Information collected by Google Play Games Services (optional)
If you choose to sign in with your Google account, Google Play Games Services is used to record and display your achievement progress. In that case, Google may share with the App your Play Games player ID and public profile information (display name, avatar). We do not store this information on our own servers.
Sign-in is optional: the App is fully playable without signing in, in which case no information is shared with Google Play Games Services.
For details on what Google collects, see Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
c) Information collected by Google AdMob (advertising)
The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve these advertisements, AdMob may collect or receive information automatically, including:
- Device information (model, operating system version, language).
- IP address and approximate location derived from it.
- The Android Advertising ID, except where children’s privacy rules apply (see Section 4).
- Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks).
We do not receive this raw data from Google. We only receive aggregated, anonymous reporting about ad performance.
For details on what AdMob collects and how to control it, see:
- Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- AdMob & AdSense personalized ads: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/7159428
2. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Provide the core gameplay (saving progress, achievements).
- Display non-intrusive banner advertisements that allow us to offer the App free of charge.
- Diagnose and fix bugs and crashes (only via Google Play’s built-in crash reporting if you have opted in to share usage data with Google).
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information to third parties. We do not use the information for marketing or profiling outside of the advertising flow handled directly by Google AdMob.
3. Legal bases (for users in the EEA / UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our processing of your information relies on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interest for storing your local game progress and for measuring non-personalized advertising performance.
- Your consent for personalized advertising and the use of the Android Advertising ID for personalization. You will be prompted by a consent dialog provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform on first launch and can withdraw consent at any time from your device’s ad settings.
4. Children’s privacy (COPPA / Families policies)
Treasure Seeker is suitable for general audiences and may be played by children. We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Google Play’s Families policy, and equivalent international rules for the protection of minors.
For users we treat as children (under 13 in the U.S., or the equivalent age of digital consent in your jurisdiction):
- We instruct Google AdMob to treat ad requests as child-directed by enabling Tag For Child-Directed Treatment (TFCD).
- No personalized advertising is served. Only contextual, non-personalized ads are shown.
- The Android Advertising ID is not used for advertising personalization.
- Google Play Games sign-in is disabled by default for accounts marked as child accounts under Google Family Link.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the App. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with information you would like removed, please contact us at the address in Section 9 below.
5. Data retention
We do not maintain user databases on our own servers. Local game data persists on your device until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it. Information processed by Google (Play Games and AdMob) is retained according to Google’s own retention policies, available at the links in Section 1.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information held about you.
- Request correction or deletion of that information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for personalized advertising.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because we do not directly hold identifiable information about you on our own servers, most of these requests should be directed to Google (for Play Games and AdMob data). For requests concerning Treasure Seeker specifically, contact us using the details in Section 9 below and we will respond within 30 days.
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time from Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
7. Security
We rely on Google Play, Google Play Games Services, and Google AdMob, which apply industry-standard security measures, to handle any data described in this policy. Local data is stored in the App’s private storage area on your device, which is protected by the Android operating system.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and, when changes are material, we will surface the update in the App or in the Google Play store listing.
Continued use of the App after a revised policy is published constitutes acceptance of the changes.
